Hans Olai traveled to the united states with his cousin Ole Sather. They left from Liverpool, England on the ship "Empress of Britan". Hans and Ole arrived in Quebec, Canada. They entered the US from Sault Saint Marie, Michigan on August 5, 1909. Then, on to North Dakota where the rest of the Sather Cousins lived.
